About Koha for Schools hosting and management
Koha for Schools is an off-site, fully managed service with professional hosting and an uptime guarantee.
Your library management system holds important information that is proprietary to your school. Not least is information about each of your students and staff members. You want assurance that this information is professionally safeguarded by policies and procedures that aim to prevent loss or unauthorised disclosure.
Bear in mind that an internal server is not necessarily a safe place. A range of physical and virtual risks require careful planning and management.
Koha for Schools partners with professionally credentialed organisations to present the highest possible standard of hosting service to our clients.
Our servers are located in the Equinix data centre in Sydney. Certification is to ISO/IEC 27001:2013. More information is available at the Equinix website.
We use only dedicated SuperMicro servers. These are provided by Servers Australia who fully maintain the servers and firewalls in accordance with Koha for Schools policies. Servers Australia are certified to ISO/IEC 27001:2003 and ISO 9001. Servers Australia provides us with a 100% network uptime guarantee and promises a 30 minute response time for any hardware failure. Support is provided 24/7.
We provide only official releases of Koha as distributed from http://koha-community.org. Implementation is from Debian packages in accordance with current project recommendations. We provide two major feature upgrades each year and promptly apply any security release relevant to our currently deployed Koha version.
Any software development undertaken by the Koha for Schools team is performed in accordance with Koha project guidelines, submitted to the rigorous QA process of the project and deployed to clients only after inclusion in an official Koha release.
We use a mix of internal and external monitoring and respond rapidly to any event to ensure your Koha system remains available and fully functional.
